distorted Brighton
all of these are using my own photographs shot in analogue on 35mm and edited digitally. i have lived in Brighton for a number of years and find endless enjoyment in exploring and capturing how it looks.
i have been editing photos into artworks for a while, but the editing of the BN-postcode region specifically was a project that began when i returned to Brighton having lived abroad for a year, and then ramped up in scale during the first lockdown in 2020. no doubt these circumstances have subtly shaped the artworks themselves, in some cases through memory (being away for a year) and others by the scattering effects of isolating within the city (during lockdowns), and so you can see the distortion of some of these areas as an expression of both ways visual memory gets muddled into something new.
